Elvis, Captain Marvel Jr and the TCB Lightning Bolt
Just about every Elvis fan know the story behind the letters TCB on his jewelry. Of course, it stands for Taking Care of Business, which was kind of a slogan for Elvis. However, do you know the origin of … Continue reading
The Evolution of Elvis Tribute Continues
Reference books state that Elvis gave performances in 79 cities in 1956. How many cities do you think hosted Elvis Tribute Artists in 2011? My guess is that it could be ten times that number. Continue reading

Elvis Writes A Form Letter
Recently, I learned about an interesting item of Elvis memorabilia that is on display at the Berlin Hard Rock Café. It is a handwritten draft of a letter that Elvis wrote while he was in the Army serving in Germany. According to the Hard Rock website, this two-page letter was written in 1959, and they consider it one of their better pieces of Elvis memorabilia. Continue reading

The research for this was done by John Beifuss, movie critic for the Memphis Commercial Appeal. We can presume his job enabled him to see just about every movie that came to town, and since that town is the home of Elvis, he noted every connection to him in these films. Continue reading

Elvis Will Never Leave the Building
An old high school buddy of mine is also an Elvis fan. He lives in Indiana and has a background in history education. So, it was a pleasant surprise when he sent me a copy of the Spring 2008 issue of Traces, the publication of the Indiana Historical Society, with this cover story: “The King’s Last Concert – Elvis Presley in Indianapolis.” Continue reading
Eye-Liner Story
ElvisBlog readers who are also fans of American Idol know that heavy-favorite Adam Lambert surprisingly missed the top spot this week. I don’t think that matters a bit, his career is going to take off starting now, and he will be a huge star. What I like is that there have been some references to the fact that Adam Lambert looks a lot like Elvis, and affects certain Elvis-style mannerisms. Continue reading
