The William J. Clinton Presidential Library in Little Rock has been opened for almost a decade.  It contains 76.8 million pages of paper documents, 1.85 million photographs, and 75,000 artifacts.   Included with all that important stuff are some pieces … Continue reading

Elvis not only sang to his female co-stars, he also danced with several lucky ones. The shot above is of Elvis and Mary Ann Mobley from the movie Girl Happy.  They got into poses like this several times throughout … Continue reading

Elvis Movie Match-Up

When coming attractions are shown at your local movie theater, they usually start with a montage of short exciting scenes, plus a booming announcer voice-over to hype your interest.  Believe it or not, there is an old VHS tape titled … Continue reading

If you like to follow auctions of rock and roll memorabilia, some of the best are presented by Gotta Have It. Bidding ended March 25 on their Rock & Roll Pop Culture Auction, and it contained about a hundred Elvis items. Continue reading

Elvis Scrapbooks — Part 2

Last week we started a discussion on Elvis Scrapbooks and took a look at the first six pages of one I recently borrowed. 50s teenagers enjoyed compiling Elvis items in organized scrapbooks. Loving You — Starring Scotty, DJ, and Bill (Plus Elvis, of Course)

I recently found something interesting on the website for a Rock and Roll memorabilia auction. It was a movie theater lobby card from Elvis’ 1957 film Loving You. Most Elvis movie cards and posters show pictures of him with one or more of his lovely female co-stars, but this one included Scotty Moore and DJ Fontana, his original guitarist and drummer. Continue reading

Viva Elvis — Sorting Out the On-Line Reviews

I Googled Viva Elvis to see what the entertainment critics had to say about the reworked Cirque du Soleil show. For two months, there had been many reviews panning the initial trial presentations of Viva Elvis. I was hoping the bugs had been worked out and the critical review would be positive. Continue reading
