My American Bandstand Story

Elvis Presley never appeared on American Bandstand.  In fact, Dick Clark has said that anybody who was significant in the first two decades of Rock and Roll appeared on American Bandstand, except Elvis, the Beatles and the Rolling Stones.  So … Continue reading

50th Anniversary Movie Pictorials: Follow That Dream – 1962

Follow That Dream was released fifty years ago in April 1962.  It was Elvis’ ninth film and is considered by some historians to be his best comedy performance.  My friend Alan Hanson over at the Elvis-History-Blog flatly states “Follow That … Continue reading

Since then, I have been impressed with the number of people who search for Elvis silhouettes on Google. Continue reading

Random Thoughts on the Remastered Elvis On Tour

Like many other Elvis fans, I headed to my local multiplex theater Thursday night to take in the “One Night Event” showing of the new and improved Elvis On Tour. My ticket cost $13.50, but I got my money’s worth. It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Continue reading

Elvis Has Never Left the Movie Theater — Part 2

Last week we started our look at Elvis’ presence in the movies. Not the old films where he was an actor, but new ones where an allusion is made to Elvis. The research for this was done by John Beifuss, movie critic for the Memphis Commercial Appeal. We can presume his job enabled him to see just about every movie that came to town, and since that town is the home of Elvis, he noted every connection to him in these films. Continue reading
