About ElvisBlog

Now in it’s eleventh year, ElvisBlog has presented “All the Cool Stuff Out There in Elvis World” in almost 600 articles.   The emphasis is on Elvis the pop culture icon, but news and commentary about Elvis frequently appear, as well.

Elvisblog receives over 26,000 hits (page views) every week, and has been translated to over two dozen languages.

About Phil Arnold

I never met Elvis Presley; never even saw him in concert.  But, I do have one genuine connection with Elvis.I was in the 8th grade when Elvis burst on the scene.   All through my high school years, one Elvis hit after another took over the music charts.  I bought every new Elvis 45 record, played them for endless hours in my room, and danced to them at dozens of parties.  Elvis changed everything — music, hair styles, fashion, attitude — and I was there for every bit of it.

The connection with Elvis waned after my college years.  Marriage, career, and the changes in Rock & Roll music in the late 60s and 70s pretty much pushed Elvis into a forgotten corner of my consciousness.

During the mid-eighties, I started collecting old record albums and recording the favorite songs of my youth on tape.  Those wonderful old Elvis albums of the late 50s and early 60s rekindled my interest in the King, and this led to a desire to write about Elvis.  A few years later, my first submission to the magazine Elvis International magazine was accepted.  Soon my work would appear in every issue.  In 1999, Editor/Publisher Darwin Lamm made me a Contributing Editor. In total, my articles have appeared in Elvis Internationalover 50 times.

In February 2005, I launched ElvisBlog, the first internet blog devoted to Elvis Presley.  My goal was to write short articles I knew other Elvis fans would enjoy.  It turned out just that way.

  2. Philip R Arnold,
I am a administrator on Kathy Westmoreland’s page . The article about Bruce Springsteen and Elvis is a great story. Do you mind if we post this to her page? Kathy Westmoreland was Elvis backup singer 1970-1977 (The Little Girl With The Beautiful High Voice). She and I was asking permission to post it. We will link this to your page and with copyright.
    Thank you,

  6. Hi Phil,

Here are details about a Kickstarter project about Graeme Oxby’s proposed book about England’s Elvis tribute acts. Brilliant photos taken over the last three years of the very active Elvis appreciation scene in the UK:

Also has groves like a record does looks to be metal. I have searched and not found anything like this. Have you seen or heard of something like this?

    • Hi Sammi: I am not familiar with the record you have. I suggest you contact Jerry Osborne, famous Elvis collector, author and historian. His website is jerryosborne.com, his phone number is 360-385-1200, and his e-mail address is JPO@olympus.net.

  9. Mr. Arnold, I have a Elvis question , Have you ever heard of Patricia Ingles? Glen

  10. Hi,
I came across some Elvis records from a family member who passed away, they are all in pristine condition and was offered £12,100 for one of them. Not sure what to do now as if I was offered this amount then surely it is worth a lot more. I have not shown the other records to this person yet, Any ideas on what I should do and where to auction the collection? Thank you

    • Hi Joanna: I thought I answered your request a month ago, but it is still in my pending file. So, I recommend you Google the Heritage Auction website and look for the contact information. They have entertainment memorabilia auctions several time a year, and Elvis records are always listed.

  13. My grandfather owns a stained glass window, which won an art contest put on by Graceland back in 1985. The stained glass window is 6ft x 5ft. We are currently looking to find the best place to sell the piece or have it auctioned. If you can send me an email so I can explain more about the piece I’d be happy to provide you with pictures and proof of the competition’s winning letter of authenticity.

    -Vic

    • Vic: I would suggest you Google the website for Heritage Auctions and look for their contact info. They seem to sell more Elvis memorabilia than any other auction.

  14. Mr. Arnold, I simply wanted to take a moment to thank-you VERY much for all the effort you put into this site. So many of your posts touch my soul, and remind me how important a place that Elvis held in our lives. Of course, many of your posts also demonstrate how CRAZY both his life and his followers can get :+)
However, mostly your site shows that after all the glam, Elvis was a good person who shared many of our challenges and foibles.
Thanks again for ALL that you do!
    KEEP ON ROCKIN’!

    • Hi..
Just thought you could start at his website at http://www.jimmyvelvet.net/, or try this ‘Jimmy today (June 2012) can be seen occasionally at the Auto Collections (Museum) located in the Imperial Palace Casino, Las Vegas, signing autographs and selling his autobiography and his Greatest Hits CD, which includes his own “Did You Know Elvis?”.’, or this , Las Vegas Elvis Fest on 10-13 july 2014 atLVH (formerly the Las Vegas Hilton). EVryone should know their dad… hoping you can sort this out. Good luck.

  16. do you know the name alicia kerwin if so where did she fit in in the Elvis story was she a girlfriend? was this before Ginger.

    • Alicia Kerwin was actually in the picture while Elvis was with Ginger. Elvis had planned on taking Alicia on the upcoming August, 1977 tour because Ginger didn’t want to go. Sadly, Alicia passed away in the mid-1990s.

      • I worked at the Silver Slipper Casino in Vegas from 1980 to 1987 and I, quite often, used to talk with a Blackjack Dealer named Alicia Kerwin. She never mentioned Elvis and I never found out that she was Elvis’s girlfriend at the time. From what I’ve read, she met him in Tennessee and he brought her to Vegas to live because he was appearing there frequently at the Hilton I think. Didn’t find that out until years later after she passed away suddenly very young!

  17. I am interested in purchasing a Kodak photo of Elvis the night he died when he played his last concert. The photo has been authenticated and I want to purchase it for my grandfathers 80th birthday. Could you tell me what a reasonable price would be to offer for the photograph. Thank you

  18. I guess, living in Memphis, I’ve just taken Elvis for granted all my life. He was always just a part of the city, like the Statue of Liberty would be in New York City. I wonder if people who live around other iconic figures take them for granted…

  19. I wish I was alive when Elvis was. I’m only 10 and prefer older music. I miss all of the good music. I hate all of this stupid aut0-tuning and people like Ke$ha and Pitbull who think they’re really cool.

They don’t make music, they just make loud, squeaky, out of tune, disturbing noise.

Elvis Presley……….. May you rest in peace.

It is such a shame he passed away. ;(
