Elvisblog strives to bring you articles you won’t find on any other Elvis websites or blogs. Certainly, that is accomplished with this topic discussing a connection between Elvis and David Bowie. That can’t be possible, you say. more »

On the news this morning, I heard that it is the 40th anniversary of the Beatle's Abbey Road album. I have a few pictures in my Altered Elvis photoshop file, so now is a good time to share them with you. more »

Hey everyone, this is Tygrrius. I'll be filling in while Phil helps his wife to recover from her recent surgery.
Being a "guest host" for Phil is somewhat daunting. He has a very unique blog going here. I imagine this must be how Jay Leno felt all those times he filled in for Johnny Carson way back when on The Tonight Show.
Phil has his own style, and I won't be able to duplicate that. I am, however, going to try to keep my posts within the spirit of ElvisBlog. Hopefully, I'll be in the right ballpark.

I've never much cared for Michael Jackson, and I am certainly glad of one thing about him. Decades ago, the media bestowed the title "King of Pop" on Jackson. If the media had taken away Elvis' title as the "King of Rock and Roll" and given it to Michael Jackson, I would have been very upset. more »

ElvisBlog readers who are also fans of American Idol know that heavy-favorite Adam Lambert surprisingly missed the top spot this week. I don’t think that matters a bit, his career is going to take off starting now, and he will be a huge star. What I like is that there have been some references to the fact that Adam Lambert looks a lot like Elvis, and affects certain Elvis-style mannerisms. more »

I would have thought Elvis and Tom Jones were performing artist rivals, but I keep coming across things that say they were buddies. The most recent came from Uncut magazine, and it is so funny. I’ll share it with you, but first, let’s look at Elvis’ history with Tom Jones. more »

I have been a Bo Diddley fan since my high school years, so this is my small tribute to the rock & roll legend who died today at age seventy-nine. There isn’t a huge connection between Bo and Elvis, but there are a few goodies.

Earlier this week, I read that Waylon Jennings was born on June 15, 1937, so we would be celebrating his 70th birthday had he not passed away five years ago. That was a good enough reason for me to Google Elvis and Waylon Jennings to see what connection there was between the two. more »

I love doing a little digging to find out what kind of connection Elvis had with other rock & rollers. In the case of Johnny Rivers, it goes all the way back to early 1955, before Elvis was a big star, and before Johnny Rivers was Johnny Rivers. At that time, he was Brooklyn-born John Ramistella, a twelve-year-old growing up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. more »

Elvisblog has taken a look at the connections between Elvis and other singers, including Pat Boone, Johnny Cash, and Jerry Lee Lewis. When the news of James Brown’s death on Christmas morning hit the media, I wondered if there had been much of a link between him and Elvis. It turns out there was. more »

Jake Hess is enshrined in The Gospel Music Hall of Fame, he received four Grammy Awards, and he performed well into his seventies as part of Bill Gaither’s Homecoming gospel video series. Jake Hess also had a strong Elvis connection. more »

Jerry Lee Lewis is in the news again, so it might be a good time to write about him and Elvis Presley. Stories about their rivalry persist, although Elvis had been gone from Sun Records for over a year before Jerry Lee burst on the scene. In some ways The Killer had the better of it in this presumed competition. more »

Two days before the mini-series “Elvis” aired on CBS, Bill O’Riley did a segment about Elvis Presley on his Fox News Channel show “The O’Riley Factor." He was most intrigued by the fact that Elvis still earned $40 million a year, twenty-eight years after his death. O’Riley explored why Elvis is the most enduring celebrity in American history with two guests, one of whom was Pat Boone. more »
