I have grumbled here before about small Elvis toys, dolls, figurines, etc, that do not look like Elvis. However, I keep hoping someone will meet what might be called the tiny Elvis-head challenge more »

Every ten years or so, there is a big auction of Elvis memorabilia and collectibles. Back in 1999, I was fortunate to be in Las Vegas for a convention during the time that the Archives of Graceland auction had all the items on display at the MGM Grand Hotel. I spent three hours studying every item and reading all the information placards that accompanied them. more »

For the past week, the TV channels I watch have been bombarded with ads from the vermont Teddy Bear Co. more »

If they can put Michael Vick’s pit bulls on wine bottles, I guess it is not so strange that Elvis Presley’s name and image adorn a line of wines. Graceland Cellars wines were introduced in 2004 and obviously have been a success. Back in March 2005, I wrote about Graceland Cellars in just the seventh article in the young life of ElvisBlog, so now might be a good time to do an update. more »

I went to www.shopelvis.com, the mailorder partner EPE uses to sell all the officially authorized stuff. They had 70 Elvis Tee-shirts for men. I cruised through them for a while, and then I started making picks of my favorites. I came up with 15. more »

If you are like me, you received a large four-page insert from Wal-Mart in the newspaper last Sunday. And, it was all Hannah Montana goodies. Some of the items reminded me of similar stuff available to Elvis fans. Trading cards, for example. Or monogrammed baseball caps. But, what about some of the products she has that the Elvis marketers haven’t tried yet? Let’s look at a few and consider if they might work for Elvis. more »

If you are like me, all your relatives have it easy when it comes to buying Christmas presents for you. They see something “Elvis” in a store or catalog, they buy it, and they put it away until Christmas. “Good, this takes care of (fill in your name).” more »

On more than one occasion, I have spoken out about what a waste of time Internet forums and chat-rooms can be. On the other hand, there are usually a few humorous comments if you have time to read through all the drivel to find them. Let me save you the trouble of looking for the good stuff among the comments to three recent news articles on www.elvisnews.com.

Those two identical looking zoned-out fellows above were photographed at the giant Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas on January 8. The ElvisNews.com text read: "The Wowwee Company will release a ‘living’ Elvis head, under an official EPE license. more »

Now, for Elvis Week 2007, I can look forward to trying a limited edition Reese’s Cup inspired by Elvis -- “Peanut-Butter-and-Banana-Creme.” If they don’t cost $5 each, I probably will eat several while in Memphis.

My sister-in-law gave me an Elvis goodie I just love. It’s a new product offered by the New York Times Store: THE KING -- a boxed collection of 74 articles printed in the Times from 1956 to 2003. It’s so much fun to travel in the ‘way-back machine’ and read what the New York Times had to say about Elvis, particularly in the early years more »

My family has it so easy when it comes to buying for me at Christmas. They just keep an eye out for cool Elvis stuff in stores and especially in catalogs. If my mom, wife, brother or children find something they’re pretty sure I don’t already have, they snap it up. Christmas 2005 was no exception. more »

When the first news of the Graceland Cellars wines came out, I winced a little, “Gee,” I thought, “haven’t we gone far enough with the marketing of Elvis?” My worst fear was that they would put some kind of low-grade junk in those bottles, based on the assumption that Elvis fans would never open them. Well, maybe I was wrong.
