Dancing Elvis (In the Movies)

Elvis not only sang to his female co-stars, he also danced with several lucky ones.

Elvis and Mary Ann Mobley in “Girl Happy”

The shot above is of Elvis and Mary Ann Mobley from the movie Girl Happy.  They got into poses like this several times throughout the movie.  Every time I see it, I wish Elvis could have ended up with her, rather than Shelly Fabares.  Elvis and Mary Ann were two beautiful people, both from Mississippi, and they looked so right together.

Dancing with Shelly Fabares in “Girl Happy”

Of course, Shelly Fabares is a doll baby, too.  Elvis did all right.  She also danced around on stage with him during the “I’m Bad.” frolic.

Yvonne Craig and Elvis Dancing in “Kissin’ Cousins”

Yvonne Craig was in two Elvis movies and had particularly good spark with him on screen in Kissin’ Cousins.  The photo of them dancing can be viewed another way.  Elvis just kicked a field goal, and she is trying to keep him from slipping down the hill.  Try it.

Tuesday Weld and Elvis in “Wild In The Country”

Although Elvis had three pretty love interests in Wild in the Country, he didn’t end up with any of them at the close of the movie.  I wish it could have been Tuesday Weld.  In their dancing scene, there was obvious suppressed passion,   I thought Tuesday had him hooked right there, but unfortunately, Elvis slipped away and went off to college.

Juliette Prowse aand Elvis Dancing in “G I Blues”

This is from the movie GI Blues.  It’s interesting to see Elvis in full soldier uniform doing the jitterbug.  In the film, Juliet Prowse had some fabulous outfits with lots of leg showing.  I wish she had worn one of them for this shot.

Ann-Marget and Elvis in “Viva Las Vegas”

If Elvis was hot and sweating after doing this dance scene with Ann-Margret in Viva Las Vegas, could you blame him?   And not just from the physical exertion.  There was something else going on here.  I’ll never get tired of watching this dance.
